(Observer Network)Last Saturday(May.10),There was a widespread suspension of rail service in England.The reason was that there was cracks in train chassis/ˈʃæsi/ in part of express train made by Japanese Hitachi.Hitachi company has apologized for this accident,said some of express train has resumed service after being checked for safety.However the reason for crack is still in investigation.This wasn’t the first problem for Hitachi express.
Reported by BBC on May 9 ,Minister of Railways Chris Heaton-Harris said on May 8,they found the crack on daily routine check on that morning.The same types of express had resume to service after Hitachi company’s safety check confirmation.However the express train is likely to remain out of service for some time.”Safety is absolutely the first priority for us ,all high-speed train of this types had to be out of service for completely strict checking.Said by Harris,”So these train has resumed to service,(High speed train)is likely to out of service for a long time.”Harris said,He has required the railway company for additional workers,to help the passengers whose travel has been influenced finishing their travel or return their tickets.
Besides,He also asked the industry to have a quick and comprehensive assessment for this accident to solve the problem.The problem appeared this time was about Hitachi 800 express started to use in British in Oct 2017,being produced by Durham county of Hitachi company in northeast England.LNER,GWR,and Hull trains are running 180 series of express for this type.Great Western Rail said ,”more than one” Hitachi 800 high-speed train appeared cracks.As a precautionary measures,93 same types of expresses related to this company was examined,ten of them resuming to service after examination.Hitachi company has apologized for the rail break after the accident,confirming that they “will solve this problem quickly and safely with all of the cooperating parties.”
British Modern Railways magazine industry and technology editor Roger Ford analysis,the problem of this accident is likely to be the welding seam under the shell of the train were cracked.If it is not resolved in time,the crack will spread further.He added,about 1000 carriages to deal with,it’s a lot of work.It’s worth noting that it was not the first problem appeared in Hitachi express ,in 2017,800 type express’s first show did not going so well.In the express from Bristow to London at that time,there was an incident of big area of air conditioning water leakage has caused concern among passengers.
